A fine Chinese gold-splashed bronze censer 17th century, with a compressed circular body and a straight foot, cast with two bands of lotus petals and with opposing lion mask handles to the shoulder, the foot and rim finely cast with flutes and dentil borders, unmarked, together with a pierced wood cover with a hardstone fish finial, 16.5cm. (2) Provenance: an English private collection. Cf. Christie's, Hong Kong, 1st December 2009, lot 1970 for a nearly identical example.
