A TIBETAN THANGKA AND A CHINESE KESI 'DRAGON' PANEL

19TH CENTURY

The thangka depicting a Lama seated in dhyanasana with one hand in vitarka mudra, with lança characters to the reverse, the rectangular silk panel embroidered with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl above crashing waves, the beast surrounded by two bats in flight, all contained within a floral border, 38.5cm x 26.4cm and 81.2cm x 36.2cm. (2)

Provenance: a private English collection, London and Shetland.
