A CHINESE SPINACH-GREEN JADE BOWL AND A PALE CELADON JADE 'BITTER MELON' CARVING

18TH CENTURY

The bowl rising from a short flared foot to an everted rim, the stone with dark speckles and inclusions, with a paper label reading '155', the pale celadon carving formed as two fruits, the stone with minor russet markings, with a label reading '178', each together with a numbered wood stand, 16.8cm and 5.8cm. (4)

Provenance: from the Fryers Collection of Chinese Art, collection nos.155 and 178. The bowl purchased from René Kitchen Ltd, London, on 15th August 1969. A copy of the invoice is available.
