A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE 'DRAGON' BELT PLAQUE
LATE MING DYNASTY
The oblong body carved in relief to one side with a dragon winding its body through swirling clouds and flowering lotus, its bulging eyes gazing intently at the sacred pearl it pursues, the reverse concave and with eight small holes for attachment, the stone of an even tone with some minor inclusions, 10.4cm.
Cf. Christie's New York, 14th September 2017, lot 725 for a related Ming plaque carved in openwork with a confronting dragon.
