TWO LARGE CHINESE FLAMBE GLAZED SNUFF BOTTLES

Each with an ovoid body rising to a short neck, with a deep purple-red and lavender glaze draining from the rim, 11.2cm. (2)
Provenance: formerly in the collection of Lieutenant-Colonel W B R Neave-Hill (1912-2000) and thence by descent. Neave-Hill was a client of Bluett's from 1953 until the 1970s and he published Chinese Ceramics in 1975. He was secretary of the Oriental Ceramic Society for many years and lent six pieces to the Society's exhibition The Ceramic Art of China in 1971.
