A SMALL CHINESE JICHIMU CABINET, YUANJIAO GUI

60cm x 40cm x 18cm.
Of tapering rectangular form, with two doors opening to reveal two shelves above two short drawers, the legs framed at the lower section plain narrow apron with curved spandrels, with metal plates, pulls and pin.
Cabinets of this simple and elegant form were used for the storage of clothes or scholar's objects. They were manufactured from the Ming Dynasty onwards. A typical feature of cabinets of this form is to use the two doors to display the natural beauty and grain of the wood.
