Carved and pierced as a horned beast resting beside a small bird, the beast holds a large lingzhi spray in its mouth, detailed with raised eyebrows above bulging eyes, a finely incised mane and a ridged spine terminating with a bushy tail, the translucent stone of an even pale tone.
Provenance: from an English private collection, Yorkshire, by repute purchased from Robert Kleiner between the 1990s and 2000s.
