A large and heavily cast Chinese cloisonné dish late Ming dynasty, the centre decorated with a billy goat and two grazing sheep amidst blue rockwork and beneath pine and another fruiting tree, within a border of lotus, peony, chrysanthemum and prunus, all on a turquoise ground, the reverse with birds perched on fruiting branches and raised on a high, slightly flared foot, 42.5cm.

Provenance: formerly the collection of Morris Marcus (d.1923), and then his daughter Miss I Marcus, both of Redhill, Surrey. Purchased by Gerald Mere, Christie, Manson & Woods, 6th December 1932, lot 49, and thence by descent.
