A good Japanese gold lacquer box and cover, kobako c.1800, decorated with a scene from Genji Monogatari with a bird perched on cherry above a pavilion in gold, red and silver hiramaki-e, fundami, inlaid gold and kirigane on a nashigi ground, the interior in dense nashigi, rims mounted in silver, 8.5cm.
