A good Japanese black and gold lacquer rectangular box and cover, bunko Meiji 1868-1912, decorated with irises growing in a swirling river beneath the Imperial kiku mon, in tones of gold hiramaki-e on a roiro ground, the interior in nashigi, the rims mounted in silver, the base with a six character mark, 29cm.
