A good Chinese gilt bronze figure of Vaishravana 17th/18th century
A good Chinese gilt bronze figure of Vaishravana 17th/18th century, the God of wealth and guardian of the North sits upon a recumbent lion, holding a canopy and wearing elaborate armour, with a rat perched on his knee, all raised on a lotus base, with traces of cold painted red and green pigments to the lion's jaws and tail, his robes finely incised with flowerheads, 17cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988).
