A Chinese mother of pearl oval abstinence plaque 19th century, one side carved in relief with zhai jie in Chinese, the other with Manchu characters bolgomi karga upon cloud scrolls, all within borders depicting bats linking their wings, a rich blue suspension cord, 5.2cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988).
