A Chinese lacquer rectangular abstinence plaque 18th/19th century, one side marked zhai jie in Chinese, the other with Manchu characters bolgomi karga, both picked out in mother of pearl, the reticulated border carved as the Three Friends of Winter, 5.2cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988).
