A large Japanese lacquered hardwood carving of Jurojin 19th/20th century, seated with bulbous earlobes, his right arm resting on his knee and holding a scroll, the robes decorated with phoenix roundels, his sleeves and waste band picked out in red, 37cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988).
