A LARGE CHINESE CANTON IVORY VASE AND COVER 19TH CENTURY With an ovoid body elaborately carved with small figures in a landscape with trees and pagodas, the neck with two smaller panels and lion head-shaped mask handles with loose rings, with decorative bands of leaves and key fret to the rims, shoulder and foot, the cover surmounted with a figure of a lion dog, a six character Qianlong mark to the base, 41cm. Selected Ivory Carvings from the Sir Victor Sassoon Chinese Ivories Trust, a loan exhibition, November 1999, no.38 for a similar vase and cover with four ring handles and a lion dog finial, also see Chinese Ivory Carvings, The Sir Victor Sassoon Collection, p.111, no.480/1437. A similar vase was sold in these rooms on 18th May 2011, lot 470.
