A CHINESE SANCAI FIGURE OF GUANDI
KANGXI 1662-1722
Seated on a stool, wearing a suit of armour, holding an ingot in his left hand, his right arm raised, the right leg resting on a tiger, all supported on a perforated rock-shaped base painted with bamboo shoots to the back, 24cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Ernest G Raphael Esq., then purchased Sotheby's London, 9th November 1945, lot 34 by Strass for £170, and later the collection of Mr Arthur Crick (1890-1956).
