A RARE CHINESE LAQUE BURGAUTE PORCELAIN BOTTLE VASE KANGXI 1662-1722 The ovoid body with a narrow neck, a wide rim and a flared foot, all painted with black lacquer with inlaid decoration of three scholars conversing on a moonlit water edge by a bamboo grove, the foot with geometric bands, the shoulder and mouth with bamboo sprays, 28.4cm. Provenance: Christie's London, 17th June 2003, lot 66. Cf. The World's Great Collections, Oriental Ceramics, volume 7, Musée Guimet, Kodansha International, Tokyo New York/San Francisco, no.157, for a plate with a similar decoration in the collection of the Musée Guimet.
