A CHINESE WUCAI MONTH CUP SIX CHARACTER KANGXI MARK AND PROBABLY OF THE PERIOD With a deep body and a flared rim, the exterior painted with a blossoming hibiscus tree in a stylised landscape, the reverse inscribed in underglaze blue with a poem reading qing xiang he su yu, jia se chu qing yan, and a seal with the single character shang, all supported on a short foot, 5cm. Provenance: from the collection of John Blakeway, d.1986. Cf. Kangxi. Yongzheng. Qianlong. Qing Porcelain from the Palace Museum Collection, p.65, pl.48 for a full set of twelve month cups. A complete set is also in the collection of the British Museum, London, museum no.PDF815.
