A TIBETAN PARCEL-GILT FIGURE OF TSONGKAPA
16TH CENTURY
Wearing a monk's robes and a tall cap, seated in vajraparyankasana on a double lotus base with hands in dharmachakra mudra, with lotus flowers at each shoulder supporting his attributes: the sword of knowledge and the book of wisdom, all raised on a plinth with two stylised lions, the base sealed, 9cm, 282g.
Provenance: formerly in the Cheng Huan Collection.
