The covers carved with panels of mountainous landscapes, one depicting two scholarly figures in a pavilion below a pine tree, the other with two figures in an interior looking out onto a garden with a scholar and his attendant, each panel surrounded by a band of archaistic angular scrolls above a low-relief geometric ground within a key fret border, the sides with panels carved in low relief with geometric patterns, the bases and interiors lacquered black, 26.4cm.
