TWO TIBETAN THANKAS
LATE 19TH/ 20TH CENTURY
One depicting the standing figure of White Tara wearing flowing robes and an elaborate headdress, raised on a lotus plinth above a landscape populated with precious objects, amidst lotus flowers, scrolling clouds and a host of Buddhist deities; the other depicting the Buddha Shakyamuni in dhyanasana with his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra and his left holding an alms bowl, seated on a lotus throne raised on a plinth decorated with two Buddhist lions, the canvas mounted to a wood rail carved with polychrome roundels of Tibetan characters and hung with fabric tassels, 66.5cm x 45cm, the latter 78cm x 66cm overall.
