A CHINESE EMBROIDERED SILK MARRIAGE SURCOAT, PAO
LATE QING DYNASTY
The front-opening robe widening towards the hem and with a high collar, embroidered to the front and back with eight roundels of gourds among flowers and butterflies against a light coral ground, the hems with panels of figures in a garden amongst flowers and lingzhi, the sleeves also applied with a further border of flowers, cash motifs and shuangxi (Double Happiness) characters, the interior lined with black silk, 100.5cm.
