A Chinese blanc de Chine 'Marco Polo' censer, cover and stand c.1700, with a reticulated lid moulded with prunus, in octagonal form with four ring side handles, the stand moulded with flowers, all later embellished in gold and cold painted enamels, extensive damages and wear, 17.3cm. (3) Cf. P.J. Donnelly, Blanc de Chine, pl.16 for a similar example, where the author notes that the link to Marco Polo is apocryphal.
