A fine Chinese white jade carving of a bird 18th century, crisply carved with its head turned over its back holding a flowering spray of prunus in its beak, the feathers finely defined, the legs and feet tucked neatly beneath the body, the stone of an even tone, 11.5cm. Provenance: purchased from Spink & Son in 1999. Cf. The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Jadeware III, no.82 for a related example of two birds.
