A rare Chinese famille rose triple-necked moonflask four character Qianlong mark in iron red and of the period 1736-95, one side finely enamelled with two deer beside two cranes on rockwork all beneath a maple tree which grows from rocks, the reverse with three goats beneath a pine tree in a lakeside mountainous landscape, the celadon ground decorated with gilt scrolling butterflies, lotus and foliage, some surface scratching and a little restoration, 16cm. Cf. The Complete Collection of Treasure of the Palace Museum, vol.39, no.124 for a closely related example, and Hobson, Rackham and King, Chinese Ceramics in Private Collections, p.198 for a vase with similar decoration from the Charles Russell Collection.
