TWO CHINESE JADE CARVINGS OF ANIMALS
QING DYNASTY OR LATER
One a white jade carving of a deer with a lotus, the animal's head turned back to face the flower borne on its back, the stone of a uniform tone; the other a celadon jade carving of an elephant striding forward with its trunk curled to the side, the stone mottled profusely with russet inclusions, 5.7cm and 6.5cm. (2)
Provenance: formerly the collection of the Viceroy of Min-Zhe, who served in the Qing government from 1898-1903.
