A RARE CHINESE IMARI CISTERN AND COVER
EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Painted with leafy peony branches within decorative borders with dense floral scrolls, the cornice and base moulded with mythical beasts, a shou roundel and yin-yang symbols. Each side flanked by mythical beast mask handles, the cover decorated with stylised lotus blooms set amongst tendrils, surmounted by a biscuit finial shaped as a crouching qilin, 62cm. (2)
