A HIMALAYAN AGATE DZI BEAD

PROBABLY 1ST/2ND CENTURY

Carved with a long cylindrical body gently tapering at the ends, the stone of a greyish-brown tone, with a dark section and four pale calcified rings to the centre, with a hole through the ends for suspension, all attached to a black cord, 9.8cm.

Dzi beads are often worn as part of a necklace and they are believed to be protective amulets. This dzi was, by repute, being worn by a pilot when he crashed his plane and he survived the accident.
