A PAIR OF CHINESE CELADON GLAZED ORMOLU-MOUNTED PEAR-SHAPED VASES

THE PORCELAIN 18TH CENTURY, THE MOUNTS 19TH CENTURY

Each rising from a spread foot to a waisted neck which flares towards the rim, the neck of each flanked by two moulded handles shaped as chilong, decorated all over with a greyish-green crackled glaze, with European ormolu mounts to the feet and rims, 43cm overall. (2)

Provenance: from the collection of the late Hubert René Joseph Georges Faure (1919-2020). Hubert Faure was the first husband of Elizabeth (Bessie) de Cuevas, who married when she was nineteen. Bessie was the daughter of Margaret Rockefeller, granddaughter of John D Rockefeller.
