A pair of Chinese cloisonné boxes and covers, modelled as quail standing with their heads turned, the covers forming their wings, with flight feathers picked out in yellow, red and blue all on a turquoise ground, 18th century, 13.4cm. (4) Provenance: purchased from Nicholas Pitcher Oriental Art. Cf. Spink & Son Ltd. The Minor Arts of China, II, no.145, p.71 for a similar pair.
