Two Chinese bronze Daoist guardian kings of heaven, both wearing heavy armour, the king Wen holding a spiked club and his left hand in a gesture of peace, the king Li holding up a stupa, late Ming dynasty, 29cm max. (2) Known as the Si Tianwang, who resided on Mount Sumeru, the centre of the universe, they are the protectors of the world and fighters of evil; each able to command a legion of supernatural creatures.
