A rare Staffordshire ashware teapot and cover, the handle and spout in paler clay, the body applied with floral sprigging. Some well repaired body cracks. c.1765, 18cm. (2) Cf. P Williams and P Halfpenny, A Passion for Pottery, No.155 for another ashware teapot. Note; this unusual body colour may be the 'ash' listed in John Wedgwood's book for the big house, Burslem factory.
