A large creamware commemorative jug, c.1789, printed in black with two scenes of the Bastille being stormed, titled 'The Triumph of Liberty' to one side, the reverse with 'Storming the second Draw-Bridge at the Bastille', a small amount of restoration, 18.3cm.

On 14th July 1789, disaffected French nationals stormed the Bastille, thus starting the French Revolution. Cf. David Drakard, Printed English Pottery, pl.446.
