A Portobello pearlware plaque of George IV, c.1822, commemorating the monarch's visit to Scotland, moulded and decorated in typical palette with a head and shoulders portrait of the King above a ribbon indistinctly impressed 'Welcome George IV', the integral frame pierced for suspension, 16.3cm.
George IV's visit to Scotland in 1822 was the first time a reigning monarch had visited the country in nearly 200 years.
