A pair of small North Italian maiolica albarelli, mid 17th century, of dumbbell form, inscribed 'Spec. aromat. Ros' and 'Spec. epite. cord', between continuous bands of fruiting lemons and leaves, with rampant lion armorial crests, the reverses inscribed 'GM', minor chipping, 12.5cm. (2)

The preface 'Spec' probably relates to dry ingredients used in the preparations of herbal teas and other infusions of an aromatic nature.
