A Delft ointment jar 18th century, painted with peacocks and a basket above a cartouche inscribed 'U APOSTOLORUM', raised on a flared foot, 19.5cm. Ointment of the Apostles was so-called because it contained twelve ingredients (including myrrh and frankincense) and was used in the treatment of wounds.
