A very large French Palissy style trompe l'oeil charger by François Maurice, c.1875-85, the oval dish modelled in high relief with three fish and an eel to the well, the rim with crayfish, a newt, a frog and various large plants including bulrush and fern, incised 'F Maurice' signature to the rim, good restoration to the head of the newt, 69.3cm.
