A large faïence pot pourri vase or jar and cover, late 18th/19th century, probably Moustiers, painted with chinoiserie figures and mythical or comical creatures amid flowering plants and scrollwork, the shoulder and cover pierced with small holes edged in blue, ochre and manganese, the sides applied with exaggerated ropetwist handles, 44cm across.
