A previously unrecorded William Greatbatch creamware teapot c.1776, printed and coloured with the arms of the Ancient and Honourable Society of Bucks, the reverse with a roundel of Artemis in her carriage above the motto 'Let Wisdom Unite Us', and a small salt-glazed teapot and cover, 1st half 18th century, with encrusted decoration, some faults, 22cm max. (3) Several Liverpool pieces are known to have been made with a Sadler print of the Bucks Arms, but no other Greatbatch print of this subject is recorded. Cf. Diana Edwards and Rodney Hampson, White Salt-Glazed Stoneware of the British Isles, p.53, for a similar example of the salt-glazed teapot.
