A Liverpool delftware Sadler printed tile c.1765
A Liverpool delftware Sadler printed tile c.1765, printed in red with The English Cook, the robust epicure standing amongst large joints of meat and a barrel of ale, within an '88' scroll border, a large chip, 12.5cm.
This tile is a pair to The French Cook, which depicts the Continental chef preparing cats and frogs, and provides a satirical comment on the French famine following the Seven Years War.
