A Samson porcelain figure group late 19th century
A Samson porcelain figure group late 19th century, in the Meissen manner, of a gentleman and two ladies playing backgammon, seated on plush chairs, a small bird alighted on the gentleman's shoulder, pseudo blue crossed swords mark, 23.5cm. Contained in a contemporary fitted case bearing a shield with three fleur de lys.
Provenance: The Old Rectory, Little Langford, Wiltshire. Sold by order of Trustees of the Estate of the late Miss S.F. Rooke.
The decoration on this group suggests that it was originally made as a pair to the previous lot, probably as a specific order for the family.
