A Frankenthal group of The Good Mother c.1770
A Frankenthal group of The Good Mother c.1770, modelled by Karl Gottlieb Lück, the protagonist cradling a sleeping baby on her lap after suckling, a second child asleep in its high chair, while a third stands behind her, the empty crib with disturbed blankets standing beside her chair, blue crowned monogram mark to the base, a small amount of good restoration, 22cm across.
This model is derived from the engraving Die gute Mutter by Laurent Cars and C.D. Jardinier after the painting by Greuze. For a similar model and the engraved source see Siegfried Ducret, Keramik und Graphik, p. 215, nos. 420 and 422.
