A pair of dark green pâte-sur-pâte vases c.1890

£200 - £300 £450

A pair of dark green pâte-sur-pâte vases c.1890, probably Brown-Westhead, Moore, decorated in white slip with nesting aquatic birds amidst reeds and bulrushes, perhaps by Frederick Schenk, the shoulders applied with gold ring handles, one numbered 5638 to the base, 20.5cm. (2)

Cf. Bernard Bumpus, Pâte-sur-Pâte, p.162 for a discussion on the attribution of this shape of vase, which mentions two vases identical to these.
