A Spanish faïence albarello 2nd half 18th century, the tall waisted body painted in blue with foliate scrolls around the inscription 'R, Enul, Camp', 30cm. Enula campana or elecampane is better known in the UK as scabwort. The medicinal qualities of this plant were known since Roman times and Pliny advised that the roots were "considered to help digestion and cause mirth".
