A delftware syrup or wet drug jar 1st half 18th century, titled 'S;E;CORT, AUR:' within a cartouche surmounted by two winged putti, the reverse with a flared spout, some good restoration, 18cm. Syrup of Cortex Aurantium, or extract of orange peel, still has a variety of uses today, but was popularly used in the 18th century to help stimulate the appetite of patients with long-term illnesses.
