A pearlware bust of the poet Matthew Prior

A pearlware bust of the poet Matthew Prior, wearing his characteristic turban, raised on a marbled socle, early 19th century, 17cm. Matthew Prior (1664-1721) of Wimborne, was one of 'Lord Dorset's Boys' and a sometime member of the notorious Kit-Kat club. He was a politician and poet and is buried at Westminster Abbey.
