A pair of Derby figures of a sailor and his companion, he dressed in stripy knickerbockers and holding strange currencies in his outstretched palm, she beckoning him with a crooked finger, c.1765-70, restoration, 22.5cm. (2)
These figures possibly represent Henry Woodward and Nancy Dawson as Sweet William and Black-eyed Susan from Gray's ballad of 1720.
