An early creamware Toby jug of Collier type c.1790, probably Neale & Co., seated with a foaming jug of ale and with a long-stemmed clay pipe clenched between his teeth, his face coal-blackened, the chamfered base traditionally moulded with a continuous band of flowerheads, small losses, 24.5cm.
Cf. Desmond Eyles, Good Sir Toby, p.43 for a similar example.
