A rare Plymouth blue and white bowl cover c.1770
A rare Plymouth blue and white bowl cover c.1770, of ogee shape, painted in a dark blue with a spray of flowering peony, the rim with a band of trellis, two rim cracks and a small chip, 12.5cm.
Cf. Victoria & Albert Museum, Accession No. 414:723-1885 for a bowl from the Schreiber Collection which may have had a cover of this type. Such bowls are direct copies of a Chinese design.
