A Meissen figure of a lady at repose, 19th century, after the model by J J Kändler with a lady reclining in a chair beside a tabletop spinning wheel, a closed bible held in her right hand, raised on a low scrolled base, cancelled blue crossed swords mark, incised 2685, small restorations, 15.5cm high.

Provenance: a private collection in Hampshire.

The model is after the engraving 'Les amusements de la vie privée' by Louis Surugue of 1747, after the painting by Chardin of 1746. The engraving was dedicated to Madame La Comtesse de Tessin.
